Arsenal Football Players Ignoring Olivia, the Club Mascot

     

There's a problem with society and this video demonstrates that. There are a few possible reasons why they ignored the club mascot and I think it would be very valuable to speak to the players to find out.

The players could just have been extremely rude or preoccupied with their music (several had earphones in...which is rude but very common nowadays as people don't seem to be able to function without music anymore). However, there are other possible explanations.

The men were walking in file...the perfect method for unifying behaviour. Had the first player ruffled Olivia's hair and said 'hello', the next one would have greeted her, and so on. Groupthink is very powerful and I suspect had a hand in this: it's so blatant in this video it could be used to teach students about it! Previously, there was a clear distinction between childhood and adulthood, but that line has been blurred via the entertainment industry, the porn industry, the education sector and the fashion industry.

Another reason could be due to society frowning on any attention being paid to children due to the fear of pedophiles. People are afraid to even look at a child lest they get accused of deviant thoughts. This sentiment has been exacerbated due to parents, schools and newspapers blocking out the faces of their children and making them forbidden entities and not human beings. Sadly, childhood is fading into oblivion and, therefore, children are being treated as anomalies best avoided.

Another possible but more unpleasant reason they ignored this girl is because, sadly, men are increasingly seeing girls as sexual objects due to online porn: this is a known derivative of the increase in porn in society, particularly prevalent in young men who have mostly grown up using it in their bedrooms, with or without their parents' knowledge.

We need less groupthink, less earphones, less porn and less fetishization of children. Manners? What are manners? You can't expect young men to behave in the correct way when they have been conditioned by society to behave in the wrong way. Everyone needs to change, other than the little girl: she behaved perfectly. Sadly, society has let her down. How she managed to not cry, I don't know!
